These wonderful leather
maps are created by using a technique called PYROGRAPHY.
Pyrography is the art of using fire to create
art.
These maps are entirely done by hand which makes
each piece very unique.
These leather maps are highly
decorative, elegant and engaging. They capture
the romance and adventure of the age of discovery.
Many people love to look at old maps of places they
have visited, places they lived and places they are
curious about. Maps of known and unknown places
often prompt conversation.
These maps are made by using fine ox leather, simple tools
and well practiced fire engraving methods to create
stuning works of art. All the lines and shades are
burned into the leather thus impossible to erase or
fade. Dyes are applied to the skin to create deeper
shades and contrasts. The surface of the leather maps is coated
with plant solution to protect it against time and
insects. Natural paste is also applied to
attain a fine finish.
The completed piece can be
hung with wooden rods and leather straps or
enclosed into a wooden frame to complement any
setting wheter it is home or office.
This art makes an unfogettable souvenir, a unique gift
or a breathtaking decoration which will last a life
time. Because these maps are created by using natural leather and hand tools,
each piece is slightly distinct and projects its
individuality.
